Licensing and Disclosures
Who we are, how we are paid, and what to know before you enroll.
Independent agency
American Health Insurance Services LLC is a licensed insurance agency. We are not an insurance company. We hold appointments with multiple carriers and place coverage with the carrier and plan that fit the client. Policies are issued by the carrier and governed by the terms of that policy.
Licensing
Licensed agents in all 50 states. Every agent who quotes or sells coverage through AHIS holds an active insurance license in the client’s state of residence. Products and carriers vary by state, and a product described on this site may not be available where you live.
Agency address: 5900 Balcones Drive, Suite 19560, Austin, TX 78731.
How we are compensated
We are paid commissions by insurance carriers when a policy is issued and kept in force. Commission rates differ by carrier and product. You do not pay us a fee, and your premium is the same whether you enroll through us or directly with the carrier. Because we represent several carriers, we may also receive incentive or override compensation based on overall production. Ask your agent if you want details about compensation on a specific policy.
Medicare
American Health Insurance Services LLC is not connected with or endorsed by the United States government or the federal Medicare program. We do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to those plans we do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or your local State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) to get information on all of your options.
Enrollment in a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan may be limited to certain times of the year unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. Plans have contracts with Medicare, and benefits, premiums, and provider networks can change each year. Enrollment in a plan depends on the plan’s contract renewal. Medicare Supplement plans are standardized but priced by each carrier. Medicare sales and enrollment calls are recorded as required by CMS.
Health insurance marketplace
AHIS is not the Health Insurance Marketplace and is not affiliated with HealthCare.gov or any state exchange. Marketplace subsidy estimates depend on the household income and size you report and are finalized by the marketplace, not by us. Short-term medical plans are not ACA-compliant, do not cover pre-existing conditions, and are not available in every state.
HealthShare programs
Health care sharing ministry memberships are not insurance. They are not regulated as insurance, are not backed by a state guarantee fund, and do not guarantee payment of any medical bill. Sharing is voluntary among members and subject to the program’s own guidelines, including waiting periods and exclusions for pre-existing conditions. Read the program guidelines before joining. We present these programs alongside insurance options so you can compare, and we will tell you when a marketplace plan is the better fit.
Quotes and underwriting
Any rate or coverage amount quoted before a policy is issued is an estimate. Final premiums and terms are determined by the carrier based on your application, health history, and state regulations. Approval is never guaranteed on plans that ask health questions. Guaranteed issue life plans accept applicants within the stated age range without health questions, but pay a reduced benefit (typically a return of premiums plus interest) if death from natural causes occurs during the first two policy years. Your agent will tell you which type of plan you are applying for before you apply.
Not tax or legal advice
Statements about the tax treatment of life insurance benefits, subsidies, or other products are general in nature. Consult a tax or legal professional about your situation.
